Advice for Day 1
This project gives you a huge amount of freedom to follow topics that interest you under the broad umbrella of climate change as a topic. Keep in mind, however, that a lot is expected from you in the next several weeks. When you first get together with your blog teams, make sure you go over the following stuff:
Read through the “Overview,” “Roles,” “Editing,” and “Grading” pages
You are all responsible for knowing this information and what is expected of you throughout this project. If you’re unsure of any of the expectations or information on the pages be sure to ask for clarification right away so there’s no confusion or miscommunication about what you need to do to have a successful experience.
Discuss who will be the “editor” for the first week
You may want to start with someone who has some technological experience to be the editor for the first week. However, Mr. Wildeboer will be happy to guide all of you through getting things set up.
Create a team spreadsheet to track your contributions to the team
You should track each team members’ (a) blog posts, (b) work as an editor, and (c) contributions to maintaining & designing your blog site. Be sure to include specific details such as dates, descriptions, and so forth. Check out the sample spreadsheet as a guide.
Once created, be sure to share this document with all members of your team as well as with Mr. Wildeboer.
