Climate Change Fake?

Published by under ProjectClimate

Is climate change a hoax? Or do you think it’s even possible it could be one? I was thinking about this so I did some research to see if I still could believe global warming and climate change is real. Honestly, before i read any articles about this subject I was 100% sure that this was true. But at the end of this research, I don’t know what to believe. I have read some articles that seem crazy. Also I have read others that kind of persuade me and have me thinking.

Many scientist are trying to discover more and more hints and clues on why climate change is not because of us humans. Others don’t even think climate change is happening. I read in this article, Click Here that over the past 160 years, there has been no net increase on how much carbon dioxide is in the atmosphere. Also I have read that there hasn’t been any global warming since 1988. But I’m personally not sure if I believe that. But I will keep looking into this. This is one of my favorite subjects I researched because I just don’t know.

Terra Cycle

Published by under ProjectClimate

I think terracycling is a really good, smart, and a creative way of recycling. Although recycling is good, I think terracycling is better. I have researched a little so far about this terracycling and it seems very cool. This is cool because it takes things that don’t usually get recycled, and up-cycles them! I have seen juice boxes recycled and made into creative bags. Billions of juice boxes are thrown out each year and companies collect them and make them into a product with more value. Would you rather have an empty juice box, or a backpack made out of juice boxes?

The big reason why people and companies do this is generally because its way better for our planet. It helps our polluting habits and it could really become an upcoming trend. This could blow up into something big and popular. Than you see all kinds of people helping to keep the Earth clean and healthy. I really like the idea of this because I think its really neat to take something with little or no value at all and make it into cool products. This is taking trash people would usually leave on the side of the road and making it into products people use everyday. This is one of my favorite subjects I have researched and I will continue to look into it.

Climate Change and Geoengineering

Published by under ProjectClimate

Many scientist think that geoengineering is a remedy for climate change. I think this could work very very well. But also many people are totally against messing with “mother nature.” These guys would get very mad. There’s many thoughts floating around in the country. Some scientist believe that global warming isn’t even real! Also, scientist who believe its 100% true and want to do something about it right away. Then there’s the others that want to find ways to help reduce the heat coming down us us.

The scientist that want to promote geoengineering and want to see if plans they have thought of work are anxious to experiment. I would say they have thought extremely hard on there plans and what they could do. The coolest plans I’ve seen are, enhancing clouds so they reflect sunlight? That seems crazy but cool. Also another one I have seen around the website was to put huge mirrors up in space to reflect light back and away from Earth. These ideas make me wonder if these plans could really work

Great White Sharks

Published by under ProjectClimate

Anyone that has watch JAWS knows that great white shark are vicious. So, why is this species on the endangered list!? Well, some people actually are hunting them. These people will capture them, and strip them of there teeth and jaws. Also, some people in Asia actually eat the lips and eyes of the great white shark. This is consider a delicacy in Asia. One group that is working hard to make sure the great white shark doesn’t becaome extinct. This group is the Worldwide Fund for Nature or WWF.

Okay, I’ve told that they are endangered, but why should the be saved. Well, every animal in the world has some kind of niche. I know that we love dolphins, sea lions, seals, and all the other animals listed in this article. Unfortanlly the can cause a problem to our ecosystems. They can do this if there is too much of one of the species. So, the great white shark eat the animals I mention. But, what where to happpen in the great white shark became extinct? Well, some of these species would reproduce so much that it makes another species go extinct, and this could go one in one long chain. So, as you can see the great white shark is very valuable to us, and I don’t mean in a money way.

Climate Change and Coral Reefs

Published by under ProjectClimate

In 1998 almost every speices of coral reef was affected by the high sea surface temperatures. This also happened during the El Nino time. If you are wondering how they started to get affected, well they started to get bleached and their mortality went up. Scientist say some coral reef speices will be gone by 2020. This coral reef can be very very colorful with fish all around when healthy. But the bleaching causes them to turn white and look dead. Check this website out, http://www.globalissues.org/article/173/coral-reefs

We have to stop climate change. It is said that if global warming can not be reduced or stopped, it will steadily increase annually and become stronger and stronger. This would destroy the coral reefs whole speices. It would cause so much destroctuion to this marine life that they could becom extinct by 2100. These coral reefs are very fragile and take a long time to recover. Since it will only get warmer, I think climate change will only make water qaulities worse. I think the future will be bad. Many speices of life will be extinct.

Climate Change and Bio Diversity

Published by under ProjectClimate

I think there’s many species of animals that will not make it through climate change. As you can see polar bears aren’t doing very well. If you take a specie’s habitat away from them and what they survive in they wont know what to do. There will no longer be suitable places for animals to live. But if we change our technologies fast so we do not produce greenhouse gases we can save around 15-20 percent of species from extinction. This website tells alot, http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2009/01/090121091239.htm. In the website just given it says that research of a survey tested 42 years later shows that animals moved uphill by 67 metres to cope with the climate. There are natural examples and clues that show that life will not be able to put up with the climate.

Do you think we will be able to survive and withstand the climate Earth reaches? Bio Diversity loss is happening rapidly. Just think what could happen. The climate will change and get hotter. This will make plants become extinct or rare. Us humans use other kinds of life to survive. We also make medicine out of some plants. Water sources could recede, we definately need water! I would say we depend on bio diversity, and we need it to survive.

Drip-Drop.Sizzle?

Published by under ProjectClimate

Usually when you hear rain it sounds like “drip-drop”, but what you wouldn’t hear is “dip-drop-sizzle”. Well, if things keep up the way they do, you might be hearing this more often. What I am talking about is acid rain. Okay, I may have over-exaggerate the sizzle thing, but it is still a very serious problem. Acid rain is what happens when there is to much pollution in our air. Like the name suggests, when rain falls that is unusual acidic it can cause damage to structures. Also, acid rain comes in many forms like rain (obviously), snow, hail, fog, frost, or dew. Also, we are not alone in this situation. Even though we are causing most of the increase in chemicals, nature is also has a part in this as well.

Okay, lets get back to what I was saying about how acid rain can cause structure damage. Most of the acid rain in the United States happens on the East Coast. You may be pondering “Why is it that most of it is happening on the East Coast?” Well since most of the factories in the United States are the West Coast, there gases drift over to the other side of the country. Which means, that the gases have enough time to mix with the rain cloud to make them more acidic. Since acid rain can cause so much problems, in 1980 U.S. Congress passed an Acid Deposition Act. This act enabled the NAPAPA (National Acidic Precipitation Assessment Program) a 10-year research program. They looked into many things about about the occurs and effects of acid rain.acid-rain-4

World Oceans Day

Published by under ProjectClimate

This post is about the special, official, calender event. This event is called World Oceans Day. This event was finally declared official in 2009. Worlds Oceans Day is the day we celebrate our oceans, and what they give to us. Two groups have worked very hard into the awareness of the oceans. These two groups are called The Ocean Project and World Ocean Network. These two groups have worked in a partnership in order to show how crucial the ocean is. They have been working together since 2003.

We use our oceans for many things. Most people will eat fish to help them become healthier. Also, we use our oceans for shipping lanes. If it wasn’t for the ocean we would only have planes to transport goods from continent to continent. They are also do projects to help stop the destruction of our oceans. They have beach cleansups, educantional programs, art contest, and many other things to raise the awareness level. Finally, from a poll, that Austin mention, only one percent of the poll said that our enviroment is the biggest problem in our world today.

My Self-Evaluation

Published by under ProjectClimate

Alright so on this whole project I’ve been having a hard time staying on track. I usually have a hard time picking my subject on what the post should be on. I don’t think I’ll finish when this is due because there is  a lot more to do on this project, other than posts. I still have a whole lot of comments to write on other students. I still have to get all that done, plus I have to put all this into a project by next week. So, now I have  a lot of work to do. It’ll be hard but I will try.

On the positive side some posts I’ve written I think are really good. Especially the “Effect of climate change has on Vegetarians.” That was my favorite post I wrote. I think that was my best one so far out of the five I have written so far. Also I like my other post on “Climate change and economy.” This is my second favorite, because the economy links into how we live in many ways andbad happens naturally will cost money. That’s why in this post I linked natural disasters with the economy because cleaning up and rebuilding after is very expensive.
