Roles
Roles of the Student
- Researcher & scientist
- Everyone will be choosing their own questions to research- selecting resources, and performing appropriate experiments and investigations. As you work through one question, you will begin formulating future questions to investigate.
- Communicator & collaborator
- Throughout this project you will be sharing your findings with Mr. Wildeboer and your classmates. You will have regular 1:1 meetings with Mr. Wildeboer and plenty of opportunities to work with classmates who have similar research interests.
- Creator
- Everyone will be designing and creating artifacts of their learning. The primary goal of these creations is to demonstrate the knowledge and skills you are gaining as you go through the project.
- Publisher
- Most, if not all, of your reflections, research, and artifacts will be posted online for anyone to view.
- Critic & reflector
- You will frequently be asked to evaluate your work throughout the project. Often you will also be evaluating the work of your classmates.
Roles for Mr. Wildeboer
- Sherpa
- Mr. Wildeboer will do very little (if any) whole group instruction. His role will move behind the scenes to help you connect to people and resources to help you along your journey of learning (Why “Sherpa?” Check out the Sherpa Wikipedia page for more info.)
- Public Relations
- Mr. Wildeboer will champion excellent work and share the great things that are happening in class both within the Fitch community and beyond.
- Communicator
- Mr. Wildeboer will meet with everyone at least twice a week to go over the goals your have selected and the progress you are making towards those goals.
- Evaluation
- Mr. Wildeboer will evaluate your learning and your progress along the way. He’ll also work to help you become better and evaluating your own progress.
